ACTION FOR HEARING LOSS

Graphic design | Art direction | 3D | Typography

A personal project encouraging young people to protect their hearing. It’s in these years where we subject ourselves to clubs, bars and festivals with the noise level regularly exceeds safe levels. Through research I found that awareness for hearing loss was falling on deaf ears, primarily because the message was not being communicated in an engaging and relatable way.

I wanted to visualise sound to help create a clearer picture of the dangers loud noises pose to our hearing. I used relatable language and composed the phrase ‘You what mate?’ in the shape of a sound wave.

I had the idea to create an app which could measure the decibel level of your headphones or surrounding area.

After choosing whether to measure the volume your headphones or surroundings, the numbers will increase and become increasingly broken up.

The app would then give you some facts and tips based on the results.

This would also work as an installation piece where people could walk amongst the broken up letters.
